Ali's Runway
Making self defense look good
Ali’s Runway is an annual prom fashion show and a self-defense class wrapped into one fun, educational event. First, there’s a showcase of the latest prom dress designs by Alfred Angelo and Niki Designs. Dresses are provided by Natalie M of Overland Park and modeled by area high school students who have previously attended a T.A.K.E. Defense Training class. After the runway show, girls and women ages 12 and older are invited to take part in an actual T.A.K.E. Defense Training session. Please refer to the list below for ticket information as well as runway and training times.
This year’s event will take place at the Overland Park Trade Center on January 17, 2010. If you plan on attending the self-defense training session, you’ll need a waiver form signed by you or your parent/guardian if under 18.
Ali’s Runway is the perfect example that one person can truly make a difference. It all started when a local senior had an idea for her senior project with just a handful of models at one school. Now, almost 100 schools and several hundred models participate. Thousands of lives have been touched through Ali’s Runway, and the fundraising efforts will continue to support our cause in adding to the 33,000 women we have trained to date.
Since it’s recommended that you register for T.A.K.E. Defense Training with a friend or relative, Ali’s Runway is a great opportunity for bonding time. Check out some great prom dresses and learn to defend yourself – all in one day!
By the way, doing self-defense moves in a prom dress is not required … or even recommended. See you on January 17th!

A ticket can be picked up at Antioch Park after December 1st, a $5.00 donation is requested. Tickets are available at the door the day of the event a $10.00 donation is requested. For more information please contact Kim at 913-236-1268.
